The big two: LinkedIn and Facebook

LinkedIn: I try to keep this network strictly professional. The goal is to be able to honestly recommend you for a new position.
Facebook: this is much more free-wheeling. Feel free to add me if you want. I generally ignore all invitations to Facebook apps, this is just the way I am.
In both networks, I reserve the right to decline or ignore an invitation, without explanation. It’s not personal, so don’t take offence.
The minnows: Jaiku, Twitter, Flickr etc.
